Judy Yu, DMD

Dentist

Dr. Judy Yu is an artist with a passion for perfecting smiles and boosting confidence. She is a true advocate of education. Dr. Yu strives to educate herself and her team in our ever-changing field.

She attended the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received her D.M.D. and was honored in the Temple University Gallery of Success. Her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in Chemistry, was attained at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, where she was a Dean’s Scholar. She completed her Executive M.B.A. at Loyola University in Timonium, Maryland.

Dr. Yu is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), the Academy of General Dentists (AGD), the Maryland Academy of General Dentists. She served as the Public Information Officer on the board of the Maryland Academy of General Dentists (MAGD). Additionally, she is certified in Forensic Dentistry through the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at Walter Reed Medical Center and has served on the Maryland State Committee for Oral Cancer Awareness. Dr. Yu served on The Anne Arundel County Oral Task Force aiming to increase access to care for the adult population.

She is committed to the overall health of her patients and works with her team to educate clients about the importance of oral care and how the pathology in the oral cavity is directly linked to one's general health, including periodontal disease and its relationship with heart disease.

A humanitarian at heart, Dr. Yu truly enjoys giving back to the community. She is currently on the Board of the Goucher College AAGC. Dr. Yu also chaired the McDonogh Parent Association's Parent Education Committee. She was involved with the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition to "Make Health Happen." You will often find Dr. Yu volunteering for Missions of Mercy, donating dental services to the public or volunteering at her church by cooking for Heaven’s Kitchen. Dr. Yu has published a cookbook. “Oral Satisfaction”, A Dentist’s Guide on What to Prepare Your Loved Ones After Oral Surgery With Tips on Their Care.

Doug E., RDH

Dental Hygienist

Doug is an advocate for individual overall well-being.  He helps patients connect the dots between oral and systemic health to drive home the value of both.

A local graduate, Doug achieved his Assoicates of Science in Dental Hygiene from the School of Health Professions at the Community College of Baltimore County. During his time at CCBC, he served as Class Representative for the Student American Dental Hygienists' Association and obtained recognition in the state of Maryland to administer local anesthesia & nitrous oxide.  With an aim for always expanding his scope of practice, Most recently, Doug has completed the first continuing education program in the history of state of Maryland to administer, dispense, and prescribe medications as a registered dental hygienist, and is now licensed to prescribe.

Doug strives to make the patient experience an easygoing one.  Communicating the what and why for dental needs, and basing his clinical skills around patient comfort.  He is passionate about being able to make a difference  in his community and carries that same approach with him daily.

Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his two boys and his wonderful wife.  When she kicks him out of the house he makes the most of the great outdoors with hobbies like fishing, exercising, and playing softball.

Dawn W., COO

Director of Practice Operations

Dawn has been with Dental FX since its conception. She is the office administrator as well as the financial and insurance wizard. She uses her certification in accounting to assist patients in understanding the financial aspects of their dental treatment and can help maximize insurance benefits to obtain optimal dental health. Dawn is able to put the most financially tense patient at ease by preparing a financial plan that fits their budget.

You may also see Dawn performing tasks in the clinical area as well. She has been certified in oral radiography since 2002 and is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) of Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign and a member of AADOM (American Association of Dental Office Management)  She was most recently awarded AA County Citation by County Executive Steuart Pittman for her contributions to economic growth of the county and the State of Maryland.

Her years of running and maintaining a business have easily transformed her into a dental office administrator. Her warm and friendly personality in patient relationships keeps clients coming back.

“We strive to make every patient as comfortable as possible and feel like family members. A lot of people don’t like going to the dentist. Our patients can’t wait until their next appointment," Dawn says. "I love the continuing education that is offered at Dental FX. I feel it helps me to educate patients in these changing times. Be it dental insurance, new procedures or medical / health issues, my team and I will be ready to answer any questions a patient may have. Over 17 years later, I still don’t call it work, I call it a pleasure.”

Kim B.

Kim brings years of dental assisting experience to our dental practice. Her favorite part of dental assisting is meeting new people and helping them achieve the smile that makes them smile.

Kim has a passion for teaching children’s Bible classes at her church, where she met her husband. In her free time, Kim enjoys going to NASCAR races, RVing, fishing, and metal detecting to discover lost Civil War artifacts. She also enjoys spoiling her Jack Russell puppy, Rascal.

Renee T.

Director of Patient Relations

Renee entered the dental field after a career change in 2018.  After receiving her degree in culinary, she experienced 12 years of many opportunities as a chef. One of which was meeting “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro and Robert Irvine. After working in the restaurant/hospitality industry, she decided to make a change into the dental field in 2018. She joined the DentalFX team in 2021 and loves being apart of the FX family.  She quickly earned her license in dental radiology and assists the clinical staff in that role when needed.  She is truly a patient advocate and like all of the staff members at DentalFX will go above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable experience at every appointment.

Renee is married, and the mother of two daughters.  In her personal time she enjoys shooting pool with her ledge.

Ian joined the Dental FX team earlier this year.  While he is new in dentistry, he brings over 25 years of customer service experience in a variety of industries.  He enjoys interacting with patients and providing quality service while gaining knowledge in the dental field.

When Ian is not in the office he enjoys the great outdoors.  While it is hiking, fishing, or sitting around the campfire with his wife and two daughters. Ian also has a love for all sports.  Whether it be attending his daughters’ soccer and tennis matches or professional sporting events, he loves it all. He also enjoys cooking delicious meals.
